A common reference
NRV means nutrient reference value. EU food information rules list reference values for vitamins and minerals. The percentage expresses the labelled quantity relative to that reference.
It is not a personal target
A reference value is not a personalised assessment of your requirements. A larger percentage is not a quality score and does not automatically mean a product is a better match. Compare the amount, serving size and complete formula together.
A dash has a meaning
Alpha’s selected labels explain that a dash indicates no established NRV where applicable. It does not mean that the ingredient amount is zero. The website retains that distinction in the tables, along with the printed percentages.
